How much does a website really cost in India (2026)?

Pricing bands by site type, what drives cost up, agency vs freelancer vs in-house comparisons, and red flags in cheap quotes.

01

The short answer

Most small and mid-sized businesses in India pay somewhere between ₹40,000 and ₹5,00,000+ for a website, depending on scope. A single landing page sits at the low end. A custom e-commerce store or web app sits at the high end.

Price is less about “how many pages” and more about what the site needs to do — design depth, integrations, content, languages, and who builds it (template, freelancer, or agency).

Typical range: ₹40,000 – ₹5,00,000+
02

Typical price ranges in India

These ranges reflect what we see on real projects for Indian businesses. Your quote may fall outside them if scope is unusually simple or complex.

01

Landing page or one-page site

₹40,000 to ₹1,20,000

One focused offer, contact form, mobile layout, basic SEO setup.

02

Business / brochure website

₹80,000 to ₹2,50,000

Home, about, services, contact, sometimes blog. Custom design, 5–15 pages.

03

E-commerce (Shopify / WooCommerce)

₹1,50,000 to ₹6,00,000+

Product catalog, checkout, payments, shipping rules, admin training.

04

Custom web app or portal

₹3,00,000 to ₹15,00,000+

Booking systems, dashboards, ERP-connected tools, user roles, APIs.

05

Website redesign

₹60,000 to ₹3,00,000

Depends on whether you refresh design only or rebuild on a new stack.

03

What actually affects the price

Two businesses asking for “a 10-page website” can get very different quotes. These factors move cost the most:

  • Custom design vs template — Templates and page builders cost less upfront but limit brand differentiation and performance tuning.
  • Content readiness — If you provide final copy and photos, projects move faster. Copywriting and photography add cost.
  • Integrations — Payment gateways, WhatsApp, CRM, Tally exports, booking calendars, and ERP sync each add scope.
  • Languages — Hindi, Punjabi, or English multi-language setups need extra design and CMS structure.
  • SEO and marketing setup — Basic on-page SEO is often included; ongoing SEO, ads landing pages, and analytics dashboards are separate.
  • Maintenance — Hosting, SSL, updates, and small changes are usually ₹3,000–₹15,000/month on a retainer, or billed per task.
04

Templates, freelancers, and agencies

Template platforms (Wix, Squarespace, basic WordPress themes) can get you online for ₹500–₹5,000/month in subscriptions. That works when speed matters more than custom UX or integrations.

Freelancers often charge ₹15,000–₹80,000 for simpler sites. Good for tight budgets; quality and post-launch support vary widely.

Agencies (like Zulo Labs) typically start around ₹40,000 for focused landing pages and scale with design, development, and ongoing support. You pay for strategy, project management, QA, and a team that can handle design, build, ERP, and marketing in one place.

There is no single “correct” option — match the builder to how critical the site is for revenue and how complex your workflows are.

05

Costs people forget to budget

The build quote is not the full first-year cost. Plan for these alongside development:

  • Domain — ₹500–₹1,500/year for .com or .in.
  • Hosting — ₹3,000–₹30,000/year depending on traffic and stack (shared vs VPS vs managed).
  • SSL certificate — Often included with hosting; verify this.
  • Professional email — Google Workspace or similar, roughly ₹125–₹250/user/month.
  • Stock photos or custom photography — ₹0 if you supply assets; ₹10,000–₹50,000+ for a shoot.
  • GST registration display, legal pages, and cookie consent — Usually quick to add but should be scoped.
06

What Ludhiana and Punjab businesses usually need

Local businesses — showrooms, clinics, restaurants, manufacturers — often start with a mobile-friendly site, clear service pages, click-to-call, WhatsApp, and Google Maps integration. That typically lands in the ₹80,000–₹2,00,000 range for a solid custom build.

Manufacturers and wholesalers adding catalogues or enquiry forms may need more structure. Textile and industrial units exploring ERP-linked inventory push toward custom development rather than a brochure site alone.

If most customers find you on Google Maps and Instagram, invest in fast mobile pages and local SEO before paying for complex features you will not use in year one.

07

How to get an accurate quote

Before you ask any agency for pricing, list:

  • Pages or sections you need (home, services, about, contact, blog, etc.).
  • Must-have features (forms, booking, payments, multilingual, admin panel).
  • Examples of sites you like — for layout, not to copy.
  • Your timeline and who provides content.
  • Whether you need post-launch support or will manage updates yourself.
08

Next steps

A good agency will give you a written scope — what is included, what is not, timeline, and payment milestones — before work starts. Avoid open-ended “we will figure it out as we go” unless you have budget for scope creep.

If you are planning a site for a business in Ludhiana or anywhere in India, start with a short discovery call. We will tell you honestly if a landing page is enough or if you need a fuller build.
